Priyanka was conceived in Jamshedpur and is affectionately known as Mimi. Her dad is Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and her mom is Dr. Madhu Chopra. She has a more youthful sibling, Siddharth. While there, she learned at the Newton North High School in Massachusetts and later in North Delta Senior Secondary School in North Delta. She started school at Jai Hind College in Mumbai however left in the wake of winning the Miss India World title. She went ahead to bring home the Miss World crown in 2000, turning into one of the five Indians to have won that title.
Chopra made her introduction in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan. In 2003, she showed up in her first Bollywood film, inverse Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, The Hero. Later that year she was seen alongside Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta in Andaaz.
